The grandeur of the Grassroots Fly-In

Brodhead Airport (C37) in Wisconsin is “A Home for Grassroots Aviation” in every sense. These lovely, well-cared-for grounds are home to the Midwest Antique Airplane Club’s (MAAC) private, members-only Grassroots Fly-In, which is held annually the weekend after Labor Day.

Fuel starvation, low altitude lead to crash

Aviate, navigate, and communicate

I immediately advised ATC because I realized I could not safely land the plane and was not sure I had full control with the envelope protection system engagement. After advising ATC I reverted to my training, prioritizing aviate, navigate, and communicate.
