By General Aviation News Staff · June 5, 2025 · 5 Comments

Beta Technologies became the first U.S. company to land an all-electric aircraft carrying passengers at New York’s John F. Kennedy Airport June 3, 2025.

According to Beta Technologies founder Kyle Clark, the flight from the airport in East Hampton to New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport took 45 minutes with a pilot and four people.

According to Clark, the ALIA can fly 250 nautical miles on a single charge. He told reporters from Reuters that it cost just $8 to power the flight.

Air Taxis to JFK are great, but how can quiet aircraft be used to cut down on the horrible helicopter noise problem? There are no runways in Manhattan, only roof tops.

Are helicopter Air Taxis contemplated or perhaps being manufactured? The people of Long Island would surely love to see battery power helicopters.

Electric flight is much healthier! No PM 2.5 or lead to harm our health like fossil fueled planes. See http://Www.wpsr.org/transportation

Nice work. John their batteries are both fast charging and swappable. They can put in the right number of battery packs to balance distance needed and weight.

Watching the future right before our very eyes. This feels like the Model T Ford era…
Solid state batteries are going to go commercial by 2027 from my research. This will give batteries 500 kWh….this is what will be needed for the large passenger jets of today.

Watch this space… Onward and upward
