New accident tracking website launched

By General Aviation News Staff · February 7, 2025 · 11 Comments

A newly launched website tracks general aviation accidents “in real time,” according to its founders.

Officials with DTSB.org, a non-profit operated by volunteers, note the goal of the new website is to keep accident data “updated in near real time as possible.”

They add that the ultimate goal of the new organization is a “linear reduction in the U.S. general aviation fatal accident rate.”

The website includes information on the latest accidents, as well as a way to sort through its dataset to find all accidents in a certain area, or accidents in a certain make and model, pilot certification, and more.

Yeah Jason, you still don’t get it. You are valuing pride over life. Gryder attacks, but what he attacks are the mistakes, errors, behavior, foolishness, and forgetfulness that pilots continually exhibit that end up killing them and their passengers.

What is it that you do not understand about that??????????

Do you think that a dead pilot is better off than a butt hurt pilot??????????

If you are an actual real person and not a AI BOT you should probably seek mental health counseling.

The accident database is new but it is receiving thousands of unique visitors every day. It’s free. I hope we all learn and prevent because of it.

Is this more about hurt feelings or faster data? You bring up “bigotry.” Thats not our topic here. We are totally fine with the lifestyle that you chose. It’s not relevant here.

Blancolirio and Juan Browne’s Youtube Channel is an excellent source of information for A/C accident reporting and analysis.

Suggestion : Go back to basic training – it needs to be done in greater depth. It is too superficial. It can’t be treated like a child learning to ride a bike – often taught another juvenile who can pass on enough skills to let the learner ride off somewhere but without any depth of appreciation or skills to avoid an accident. Stop dumbing piloting down to the level of playing video games that end with no real world outcomes. Come on USA up your aviation aims . FLYING AN AIRCRAFT IN NOT A GAME.

As someone in the general aviation community I’m asking that this publication not give any attention to Dan Gryder or any of his initiatives. Dan is a speculation ambulance chaser who has been sued (successfully) for his speculative YouTube videos. He deletes comments on his videos that try to hold him accountable or question his reasoning, and has posted hateful messages about other aviators on his Facebook page. Aviation doesn’t need anything Dan is peddling.

That’s one man’s opinion. Dan is often wreck-less with the truth, but sometime’s the Truth is hard to acknowledge. I don’t always agree with Dan’s comments or conclusions, but I do believe that Dan’s heart is in the right place. He doing his best to keep us knuckleheads from killing ourselves in our GA Airplanes. By the way, I think you’ll find that the “successful” lawsuit that you mentioned has been overturned on Appeal.

“Reckless with the truth” isn’t something we need in aviation, IMO, and there is zero excuse for his comments calling for AOPA members to cut up their membership cards in an anti-LGBTQ rant. But that could be too “woke” of an opinion for some. I do appreciate your kind response.

Jason, you are a poor soul that needs to be pitied. Instead of taking what Dan Gryder says as a good reminder of what pilots do to kill themselves and their passengers, you try to kill the messenger.

Lets try to simplify it for you. If you were about to step in front of a bus and get killed, would you cuss your worst enemy if he grabbed your arm, pulled you back and saved you? Of course you wouldn’t. Why then do you cast aspersions on Gryder (who is apparently your worst enemy) who is trying to remind us all not to do the dumb stuff that pilots do to kill themselves and their passengers???

It really does not matter if Gryder is right or wrong in his assessment of the cause of a particular accident because he continually reminds stupid pilots to stop doing stupid things to kill themselves and their passengers. Even if you only get mad at Gryder about something he said or wrote, maybe it will remind you to not make the error he wrote or talked about. Reading accident reports are a reminder and motivator for pilots to not repeat the stupid pilot past. One statistic that remains true is that 80% of all aircraft accidents are caused by PILOT ERROR. That is regardless of how nice a pilot is, how good a pilot they are, how many hours they have flown, what ratings they have, or how you feel about them.

How about you grow up and heed the warnings he gives instead of trying to wreck him. By the way, how about we all talk about you the way you talked about him????

Hi Scott, In my opinion (that’s all it is), Dan’s speculation does more harm than good for aviation. You disagree. Fair enough! But I will always stand up for my colleagues and friends who suffer the brunt of bigoted intolerance from people like Dan. He attacks. I’m calling it out. You likely disagree with that, too, and that’s fine by me, but I don’t need your pity.

Jason, “Ambulance chasers” are lawyers. Stop already.
Gryder has a personal passion aimed at GA accident awareness, causes and most importantly prevention aimed at driving down GA fatalities (mostly light singles and twins) which is unique.

The NTSB pays lip service to GA accidents. Gryder and his volunteer team fills a vacuum.

Like it or not, Gryder’s positive contributions eclipse anything done by anyone else including Jason or me. He states things in an unvarnished way, sometimes with raw, politically incorrect words based on his learned opinion and his hunches, and that is generally what brings both criticism and admiration.

Your opinion on this subject is obviously important to you, but intermixed with intense emotion or rage isn’t warranted, in my opinion.

I call Gryder out on occasion when in my opinion, it’s warranted. Thats via email directly to the source. The broad brush with hot tar approach isn’t compelling to me.

Good on General Aviation News for making Gryder’s organizations work more accessible to the GA community.
