At this week’s SUN ‘n FUN, 11-year-old Liam Givati from Israel, got the chance to fly a link trainer at the Kids Zone in the Piedmont Aerospace Laboratory. Liam says he wants to be a pilot for the Israeli Air Force when he grows up.

Making Mustang memories

It is Mustang Day at SUN ‘n FUN on Thursday, April 6, and to celebrate, Stallion 51’s Lee Lauderback will perform in his P-51 Crazy Horse. On Wednesday, more than a dozen P-51s flew into SUN ‘n FUN to help Stallion 51 celebrate its 30th anniversary.

Vive la France!

Photographer Kenneth Strohm captured even more photos as the French National Jet Team, Patrouille de France, arrived at Lakeland Linder Regional Airport in Lakeland, Florida, for SUN ‘n FUN. The jet team, which is only performing at five stops in the U.S. during their two-month tour, opened Tuesday’s airshow at SUN ‘n FUN.

Thomas Bombardier sent in this 40 year old photo of Paul Bombardier’s J-3, taken sometime in the early 1960s at the original Manassas Airport. “This picture was taken after it got new fabric and paint job,” Thomas notes.  

Reaching the next generation

Arthur Billingsley sent in these photos, taking during an event held Jan. 14 at Walterboro Airport (KRBW) in South Carolina, hosted by EAA Chapter 477 and supported by the Southeast Aviators. “More than 50 students and scouts attended, with many taking to the air for short familiarization flights,” he reports.

A workhorse
