On July 8, 2023, Operation Thunder Run Disaster Airlift Response took off in the Pacific Northwest. The yearly exercise is a way for general aviation pilots and other volunteers to prepare for a disaster, such as an earthquake.

Tuskegee Airman visits memorial wall at KPIT
One of the last remaining Tuskegee Airmen, Lt. Col. James Harvey recently visited Pittsburgh International Airport to see the memorial honoring the famed combat unit. Harvey was ready to fight in World War II, but discovered the war was over one hour before he was set to leave. “Hitler knew I was coming,” he said with a laugh.

Video captures first flight of Bataan after restoration
After eight years of restoration, the Lockheed C-121A Constellation N422NA made its first flight on June 20, 2023. Named “Bataan,” the Connie was used as a personal transport by General Douglas MacArthur during the Korean War.
