A video posted Sept. 4, 2024, “I Tried Air Traffic Control,” offers an interesting view of what happens on the other side of the mic.
Michelle Khare is the person in the hot seat of her Challenge Accepted series.
Khare’s first stop is a control tower tour, followed by a introductory table top simulation with multiple aircraft. The last 5 or so minutes have Khare in an advanced FAA ATC simulator. It gets intense quickly.
While edited to feed YouTube’s algorithm, I still found the video interesting and informative.
Hopefully some of Khare’s 4.7 million YouTube subscribers will find ATC a worthy career path.
That is a nice video, it is bound to expose thousands of people to what happens in a Control Tower. Well done Michelle!
By the time I thought of becoming an air traffic controller, I was too old. I’ve often thought that their lower age limit (younger than 31) was too restrictive.
