Pilot Report (PIREP) filing app Virga is now available on Android devices via the Google Play Store.
Virga allows pilots to submit PIREPs without the need for ATC or the radio. An average of five screen taps is all it takes to submit a PIREP, according to company officials.
Flight information — including pictures of the conditions outside your cockpit window — can also be shared with your friends and other pilots.
In collaboration with Leidos, all PIREPs submitted through Virga are synced to the national Aviation Weather Center database at AviationWeather.gov and appear on all platforms that show PIREPs, company officials said.
Go to FlyVirga.com to learn more and to find the download links for the free app.
Once it is downloaded you’ll have to complete the registration process, which includes name, call sign, optional photo, email, aircraft make/model, and N-number. Your profile can include more than one aircraft, company officials added.
