“The RAF is dedicated to preserving existing airstrips and creating new public-use recreational airstrips throughout the United States.”
For those of you not familiar with the Recreational Aviation Foundation, take 14 minutes and soak in the words and imagery of The RAF Way.
My favorite quote is from RAF President Bill McGlynn. He’s talking about backcountry airstrips disappearing and the humble start of the RAF — how six people become 12, and then 24, and 96, and then, “all of the sudden we’re at 10,000 people who care deeply and do not want to stand by and watch these places [backcountry airstrips] go away.”
If this doesn’t set your heart aflutter, you better check in with your doctor.
