As winter keeps its grip on a good part of the United States, Good Plane Living vloggers Ed and Colleen let us follow along on their family trip from Minnesota to Florida.
Ed, Collen, and their two sons — Dash and Eli — are flying their Van’s Aircraft RV-10 that Ed built in their garage over three-and-a-half years. The four are headed for warmer weather in Florida to meet up with fellow RV-10ers.
Best line of the video is 30 seconds in when the family is just settling into the plane. They haven’t even started the engine and the kids are squawking a bit when Ed says, “You know what I have discovered? Most family travel vloggers are full of s#!t.” He points to the backseat and says, “This is the reality.”
I grew up in the backseat of our Piper Comanche, so I can relate. I’ve also taken my family – with young kids – on a long cross-country trip. I’m sure most of you can relate (whether traveling by air or land).
But watching the fuel stop at the Neosho, Missouri airport FBO (which turned into an overnight) brought a smile to my face. I can recall many flights that didn’t go “as planned” and have some wonderful memories as a result.
Thanks for sharing Ed and Colleen.
