March is “General Aviation Appreciation” month throughout the state of Indiana after Governor Mitchell Daniels joined a growing list of governors who publicly recognize the importance of general aviation to their states.
According to the Indiana Department of Transportation, general aviation contributes more than $4.9 billion in economic activity to the state, supporting more than 18,000 jobs.
Governor Daniels’ proclamation was welcomed by leaders of general aviation organizations who are striving to gain more understanding of the role that segment of aviation plays in activities of the nation. The Alliance for Aviation across America said across the country general aviation serves as a critical lifeline for business, charities, medical organizations, law enforcement, farming, and other critical services.
