Chesapeake Sport Pilot now accepting deposits for SeaRey

By Janice Wood · January 29, 2012 ·

Chesapeake Sport Pilot is now accepting deposits for the new factory-built SeaRey SLSA. Delivery of factory built SeaReys is expected to begin in 2012.

A deposit of $5,000 will secure one of the first delivery slots for the SeaRey, expected to be one of the fastest selling light sport seaplanes on the market, company officials said.

The SeaRey is a two place, amphibious flying boat. It has been available as a kit for nearly 20 years and is the most popular kit amphibian in the country with nearly 300 flying in the US and over 500 sold worldwide.

The latest model of SeaRey, the light sport LSX, improves upon nearly 20 years of refinement with increased performance and impressive flight characteristics that exceed ASTM certification standards, company officials said. It is built and designed by a Florida-based company, Progressive Aerodyne. It is a Light-Sport Aircraft and can be flown by a sport or private pilot without an FAA medical certificate. It is designed for the pilot who wishes to fly for recreation, fun, and excitement. “This is an extension of our business philosophy,” explains Tim Adelman, co-owner of Chesapeake Sport Pilot. “Flying is fun!”

Chesapeake Sport Pilot is the first full service factory authorized training, sales, brokerage, and maintenance facility in the country for SeaReys. The training program is designed to take both non-pilots and pilots and turn them into trained and qualified SeaRey owners quickly and efficiently, company officials said. Chesapeake Sport Pilot also offers full service maintenance for SeaReys and lease-back options to make ownership even more affordable.
