Greenway named new Avemco president

By Janice Wood · January 18, 2012 ·

The parent company of Avemco Insurance Co., HCC Insurance Holdings, Inc., has named Jonathan J. Greenway president of Avemco, replacing retiring president Jim Lauerman.

Prior to joining Avemco, Greenway served as captain and check airman with American Airlines and more recently as the director of safety for the AOPA Air Safety Institute. He is an aircraft owner and flight instructor, and lives with his wife and two daughters in Frederick, Maryland.

“I have been passionate about air safety since I began flying at the age of 15 and so it is a great honor to join the team at Avemco, an insurance company devoted to supporting general aviation safety,” Greenway said.

Michael J. Donovan, president of HCC Aviation, added: “we are very pleased to have Jonathan Greenway bring his aviation experience and passion for safety to Avemco. We would also like to express our thanks and appreciation to Jim Lauerman whose 28 years of loyalty, expertise and leadership have helped to make Avemco the success that it is today.”

Lauerman will stay at Avemco for the next six months to aid in the transition, then will serve for the next 12 months in a consulting role. After that, he looks forward to retiring.
