Florida’s Sebring Regional Airport (SEF) has modified its Foreign Trade Zone Act to provide a new benefit for businesses that locate within the service area of the Foreign Trade Zone, which includes DeSoto, Glades, Hardee, Hendry, Highlands, and Okeechobee Counties and the cities of Belle Glade and Pahokee.
The modification allows any new company that locate within the service area to secure Foreign Trade Zone status for warehousing and distribution operations in approximately 30 days from the time an application is accepted for filing. Prior to this adjustment, relocating companies had a wait time of up to one year, according to airport officials. The modification is applicable to existing businesses within the zone’s counties and cities, as well, officials add.
Manufacturing companies may also benefit from additional streamlined procedures and may be approved in certain instances as quickly as 75 days, officials said.
