Smyrna Air Center expands Power 90 conversion program

By Janice Wood · January 10, 2012 ·

Smyrna Air Center has expanded its United States installation center network for the Power 90 engine conversion program to Mather Aviation in Rancho Cordova, Calif.

Mather Aviation is a FAA certified MRO that is recognized as a leader in aircraft maintenance providing comprehensive maintenance of piston, turboprop and jet aircraft, according to Smyrna Air Center officials.

The Power 90 Upgrade Program is a conversion program for owners of King Air 90 aircraft, in which the installed engines are replaced with 705 shaft-horsepower (shp) GE M601E-11A engines. In addition to the faster rates of climb, the M601E-11A engine also provides faster cruise speeds than current engines in the segment, according to a July 2010 study by Conklin & de Decker performed for GE.
