Soloy Aviation Solutions has developed a repair and overhaul procedure for the composite turbine air inlet assembly installed on several Rolls Royce 250-B17 turbine conversions.
Originally produced by Lucas Aerospace, the entire forward facing and duct interior surface areas are coated with a sprayed metallic, electrically-conductive coating. Certification testing has shown that the system will prevent ice build up on the Soloy 206H turbine conversion, as well as the O & N C210 and Tradewind Turbines A36 Bonanza turbo prop conversions, company officials said.
Until recently, repairs to damaged coatings were only available in the United Kingdom, company officials said, noting this caused inconvenience and extended down time while the component was out of service.
