AeroCharts.com releases iTerps for iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch

By Ben Sclair · July 20, 2010 ·

iTerps

AeroCharts has released iTerps, a new app that allows iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch users to download and store the entire FAA Terminal Procedures Publication (TERPS) library of instrument approaches, departure procedures and STARS on their hand-held devices. iTerps displays current charts in the cockpit without without the need for an internet connection. While iTerps is optimized for the iPad’s large display, it can also be used on the smaller iPhone and iPod Touch.

Charts are updated — on demand — through iTerps each 28-day FAA publication cycle. Users can download individual states or the entire U.S. TERPS library. The charts are delivered in PDF format for a fraction of the cost of the traditional printed 26-volume set distributed by the FAA. iTerps downloads include:

  • Instrument Approach Procedure charts (IAP)
  • Departure Procedure charts (DP)
  • Standard Terminal Arrival charts (STAR)
  • Airport Diagrams
  • Take-Off, Radar and Alternate Minima textural procedures

Once downloaded, charts may be selected by state, city or airport, or searched for by the airport’s 3- or 4-letter identifier. Top 10 charts viewed remain available as favorites. The iTerps high definition digital presentation graphics may be re-sized with normal touch commands.

iTerps is available on the iTunes App Store for just $4.99, which includes the App and an initial full charts download. Subsequent 28-day cycles may be downloaded for only 99¢ each.

Charts used to cost me so much money. This app is great! Now I can fly and not just try to print out the departure, destination and alternate! I can have full coverage for less than the cost of peanuts. Thanks Aero Charts!

This app is awesome, I’ve used it in flight on an iPad. I let it download all the charts overnight and the next day I had every chart I could possibly need. Great for the money.
