Radiant Technology has introduced an updated angle of attack system based on the vane-sensing principle of its original product.
Unlike systems that infer angle of attack from differential pressure, Radiant’s AOA direct-vane system uses a balanced, ball-bearing-supported vane that follows the local airflow, similar in principle to vane-based AOA systems used on commercial and business aircraft, company officials explained. The vane’s position is transmitted electrically to the cockpit instrument, where the pilot sees a large numerical angle-of-attack value and a green, yellow, and red bar graph.

“There are no pressure ports to calibrate, no pneumatic lines to route through the aircraft, no pressure connections that can develop leaks, and no in-flight pressure-system calibration procedure,” company officials said. “Once the vane is mounted and the pilot establishes the aircraft’s cruise and stall reference positions, the system is ready to fly.”
The new operating screen gives the pilot useful information at a glance. The AOA digits show the aircraft’s registered angle of attack relative to the cruise reference. The digits change color as the aircraft moves through the green, yellow, and red operating zones.
A 16-segment vertical bar graph provides a second visual indication. The upper portion of the graph widens progressively as the aircraft approaches the stall region, giving the display a strong visual emphasis as risk increases, according to company officials.
HUD Capability
The new unit can mirror its entire operating display for reflection on the windshield. That is especially meaningful during STOL approaches, slow flight, and training because the pilot can monitor AOA while continuing to look forward.

Pricing and Availability
Radiant’s AOA is intended for experimental and ultralight aircraft use. It is not currently offered for installation in type-certificated aircraft.
The current special price of $499.95 will remain in effect through Nov. 30, 2026. Beginning Dec. 1, the manufacturer’s suggested retail price will be $599.95.
