New layer of paperwork consequence of Pilot’s Bill of Rights
A consequence of the passage last week of the Pilot Bill of Rights is a new layer of paperwork regarding both pilot certification and FAA medicals, according to officials with the National Association of Flight Instructors (NAFI). The new law includes a requirement that applicants receive and sign, and records be kept, of notification that the new law is being complied with.

Galvin Flying Services, an FBO at Seattle’s Boeing Field, has named Eric Lynn Flight School Manager and Chief Flight Instructor of its Flight Training Department.
Colorado aviation writer earns grant
Colorado writer and volunteer director of the Teaching Women to Fly Research Project, Dr. Penny Hamilton, was recently awarded a grant from the Wolf Aviation Fund to write an aviation textbook.
“Because our original 2008-10 research revealed the number two barrier to female success in general aviation training was ‘instructor-student communication incompatibility — Venus vs. Mars,’ we recognize the need to strengthen communication skills for GA flight instructors,” explained Hamilton.
