General aviation advocates are hailing the passage of new legislation that will benefit not only aviation businesses in Florida, but general aviation aircraft owners. Language in a new economic development bill includes sales-tax exemptions for repairs and equipment on aircraft that weigh 2,000 pounds or more. The previous exemption was for aircraft that weighed 15,000 pounds.

Careers in Aviation has entered a formal partnership with the Florida Aviation Trades Association (FATA), designed to bring awareness to the aviation industry’s workforce crisis, according to officials.
“Our industry must look toward the future. Even more during these global economic times, we must all focus toward the next generation of our industry’s workforce,” said Paula Raeburn, FATA executive director. “Our partnership with Careers in Aviation sends a significant message to our industry partners. We should all be asking ourselves, ‘How can we make a difference?’”
