Fantasy of Flight will celebrate Black History Month in February 2012 by kicking off its Fourth Annual Legends & Legacies Symposium Series with a visit from famed World War II heroes, the Tuskegee Airmen, as well as a student essay contest honoring the aviators’ leadership, excellence, advocacy and determination (LEAD).
Fantasy of Flight’s Weeks wins award for children’s book
The founder and creator of Fantasy of Flight, Kermit Weeks, received a Bronze IPPY Award in the 13th Annual Independent Publisher Book Awards for his recently published children’s book, “All of Life is a School.”
The aviation-themed children’s story is Weeks’ first published work.
Last big splash of the season
Fantasy of Flight is inaugurating a new event in September: Fantasy of Flight’s Last Big Splash, slated for Sept. 26-27.
The event will feature seaplanes in action at Lake Agnes, which is next to Fantasy of Flight in Polk City, Florida. The event is free with paid admission to Fantasy of Flight.

Boy Scouts Camporee at Fantasy of Flight
Fantasy of Flight in Polk City, Florida, will host the first annual aviation Camporee for hundreds of Boy Scouts March 13-15.
The weekend presents an opportunity for Scouts to earn their aviation merit badges amidst one of the world’s largest private aircraft collections, including 40 rare and vintage models, many of which have been restored to flying condition.
