Careers in aviation: It’s more than just flying

The most recognized careers in aviation are those that are the most visible, such as being a pilot. Even those of us already involved in general aviation may not realize just how many jobs are available in the aviation and airport businesses.
Because an airport operates much like a small town, there is a wide variety of duties. From entry-level to upper management, there are many different types of job opportunities available in many different fields.
Piper appoints aftermarket business director
Piper Aircraft named aircraft customer support executive Wes Norris as Director of Aftermarket Business. Norris joins Piper after a 31-year career at Hawker Beechcraft Corp. and leads Piper’s aftermarket business development office in Vero Beach, Fla., working with customers and dealers throughout the world.

Groups team to address workforce crisis
Careers in Aviation has entered a formal partnership with the Florida Aviation Trades Association (FATA), designed to bring awareness to the aviation industry’s workforce crisis, according to officials.
“Our industry must look toward the future. Even more during these global economic times, we must all focus toward the next generation of our industry’s workforce,” said Paula Raeburn, FATA executive director. “Our partnership with Careers in Aviation sends a significant message to our industry partners. We should all be asking ourselves, ‘How can we make a difference?’”
