Avidyne Corp. has received Technical Standard Order (TSO) and Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) approval of the DFC90 autopilot for Entegra-equipped Piper PA-46 Matrix and Mirage aircraft, as well as TSO and STC approval of the DFC100 autopilot for Release 9 (R9)-equipped Piper PA-46 Matrix aircraft.
Becker receives TSO for transceiver
Becker Avionics has received TSO certification of its new compact 2¼-inch, AR6201 VHF-AM Transceiver, with 8.33 kHz channel spacing and integrated voice activated (VOX) intercom system.
LightSquared still interfering with GPS
Federal officials said Wednesday that recent tests of start-up LightSquared Inc.’s proposed national wireless-Internet network showed it would still knock out a “majority” of GPS devices. A report in The Wall Street Journal quotes Anthony Russo, director of the National Coordination Office for Spaced-Based Positioning, Navigation and Timing, a government and industry advisory board, as saying government tests showed that “LightSquared signals caused harmful interference to the majority of…general purpose GPS receivers.”
Garmin GTN receives EASA approval
Garmin International Inc. has received the European Aviation Safety Agency’s (EASA) validation of the U.S. Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) for the GTN 650 and GTN 750 series touchscreen avionics. These avionics are now certified and approved for installation in hundreds of makes and models of European-registered-general aviation aircraft.

A model for leaning the FARs
