Experimental aircraft owners can now increase the information available to them with a Flight Data Systems AFP-30, according to officials at Aircraft Spruce, which is now selling the three-in-one computer that provides performance information, fuel projections and outside air data.

Becker Avionics taps Schmitz as VP
Becker Avionics Inc. has named Markus Schmitz vice president of strategy and business development.
Schmitz will be responsible for developing and implementing corporate business strategies and partnerships for the North and South American aviation markets, as well as providing cross-business divisional leadership and support for “high impact” projects, strategy and analysis for the Becker Group, which is based in Miramar, Florida.
STC for Cirrus EVS awarded
Forward Vision has been awarded an STC for installation of its EVS-100 infrared sensor on Cirrus SR20s and SR22s.
Forward Vision is working with One Sky Aviation on the Enhanced Vision System for Cirrus aircraft already flying. In new models, the EVS is part of the new Perspective glass cockpit.
Webfoot Bearhawk flies
A Bearhawk on floats has taken to the sky.
Al Robinson of Cold Lake, Alberta, is the first to fly a Bearhawk on floats, according to company officials.
“I bought a scratch-built Bearhawk from its original builder, Tom Yeoman in New Mexico, for the express purpose of putting it on floats,” Robinson said. “Tom had equipped the airplane with an O-360 Lycoming with low compression pistons that yielded 170 horsepower and allowed him to fly it on auto gas.
