Viper Aircraft Corporation said on May 5 that the latest addition to its Viperjet line – the Viperjet LXR – utilizes the certified Pratt & Whitney JT15D-1A, 2200 lbs static thrust turbofan engine to increase range, decrease emissions and lower fuel consumption.
“Without sacrificing performance, we have achieved our company goal of offering customers a Viperjet with increased range while being able to decrease emissions and lower fuel consumption,” said the company’s president, Scott Hanchette. “By moving to the JT15D-1A, cruise fuel burns are half and idle fuel burns are one-third those of the previously used GE J85/CJ610 engine. We feel that the Viperjet LXR really is the smart choice for pilots and owners seeking a fast, fuel efficient personal aircraft with reasonable acquisition and operational costs.”
In addition to power plant changes, weight reduction in the Viperjet LXR “maintains the over-all performance level expectations found in all Viperjet aircraft. At gross weight, projected rate of climb for the LXR is more than 5,000 fpm with 1,000 nautical miles of range (45 minute reserve) at 400+ knots,” the news release said. The LXR fuselage adds room in the cockpit and increases luggage space, Hanchette said.
The Viperjet LXR is a two-place, tandem seat, fully-aerobatic, composite personal jet aircraft designed and manufactured by Viper Aircraft Corporation in Pasco, Washington.
